ABOUT ME
Hi there! My name is Tabitha Schroeder and I am a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) here at EVOLVEwithin. First, I’ll give you a little glimpse into who I am, and then you can read on to find out about my clinical work as a therapist. I love adventure. I have moved around quite a bit over the course of my life (two countries and four states!) which has only fueled my interest in trying new things. I particularly enjoy exploring new cities and trying new restaurants, especially if they offer a fancy grilled cheese or a loaded plate of nachos—yum! I also love getting to know new people, which is part of the reason why I love being a therapist. While I do enjoy the excitement of trying new things, I also find a lot of comfort in appreciating the familiar. Even though I’ve hopped around, so to speak, I have come to truly love the Milwaukee area and I am so happy to have found such a sense of ‘home’ here. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology from Wisconsin Lutheran College and a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Edgewood College. While those degrees represent my formal education, I am dedicated to continually improving and always striving to be the best therapist I can be for my clients. MY CLINICAL WORK My areas of focus as a therapist include anxiety disorders, body image and self-esteem, couples’ therapy and relationships, and women’s health. I also have experience working in the areas of depression, personal growth, family transitions, and grief. I work primarily with adults, ages 18 and up. I take a very “strengths-oriented” approach to therapy. This means I value working with you to recognize what traits and skills you already naturally possess and then using those abilities to empower you towards growth. I believe that therapy should be a collaborative process. At the end of the day, you are the only expert on your own life and lived experiences. In other words, you know yourself best! I love learning about your experiences and getting to be a part of discovering how those experiences have shaped and affected who you are today. I understand it can be hard to feel comfortable sharing so many details about yourself with someone you’ve never met before, so I do all I can to try to make our therapy office a space that feels safe and welcoming for everyone. If there is anything I can do to help maximize that sense of safety, please let me know. I am so excited that you are here, and I can’t wait to join you on your therapy journey!
