Symptoms that may be a sign you've been abused or traumatized include:
You're not alone! Trauma is an event that leads to a level of intense fear, helplessness, or even horror, and it can take over your life. Abuse is when someone else overpowers your body and/or your mind and causes psychological affects similar to or the same as trauma. The mind and body are affected, but what we often fail to realize is that trauma also affects our relationships with others.

"I don't know if I'm ready to talk about it yet..."
Some people who have suffered trauma feel extremely comfortable sharing what they experienced, while others may never be able to tell their story. Most people are those who fall somewhere in between. Everyone is different. Wherever you may be on your journey, your boundaries will be respected. You do not need to tell your story to get the help you are looking for.
"How can therapy help?"
After experiencing trauma, you may have triggers to situations that remind you of your past. Those triggers affect your relationships with others. They may cause you to hold in your emotions and take on the burden yourself, but that will ultimately only do you more harm than good. At EVOLVEwithin, our therapists can help you and your loved ones understand what is happening and how to improve your current situation. If your trauma occurred in childhood, there may be additional coping skills we can develop together in order for you to continue to grow into the person you'd like to become. Continue down the path you want for yourself. Help is only a call away.
